Recently, David Vonderhaar of Treyarch has been in conversation with Call of Duty fans regarding a fairly controversial topic: Stopping Power and its place as a perk in Call of Duty. Unfortunately, many players quickly found, even back in CoD4, that Stopping Power became such a staple perk, it rendered all other perks in that tier negligible.
Generally, this was received rather well among the community, although, it did give rise to the infamy of the Ghost perk, which Vonderhaar also recently spoke about. Stun Protection: Prevents players from getting stunned by flash and stun grenades. Assassin: Gives immunity towards UAVs, different thermals and heartbeat sensors.
Blind Eye: Makes players immune to computer-controlled enemy killstreaks. The pro version gives you extra bullet damage versus killstreak vehicles and also makes your missile launchers lock on faster. Dead Silence: Makes you silent when you move. Perfect for stealth. Point Guard: Every two assist kills you make count towards as one kill to your killstreak rewards. Recon: Partly unknown, but it gives you a "special radar" for spotting enemies.
Airdrop Trap: Delivers a booby-trapped airdrop to the battlefield. Having a slight delay makes weapon switch more consistent with mouse wheel, but a high delay will make it harder to cancel it.
Weapon Switch Wrap-Around: When enabled, weapons will cycle on a loop when switching through them. When disabled, the next weapon button will switch weapons until you are holding the last equipped weapon with no wrap around, and previous weapon commands will end with your first equipped weapon. This is an option if you prefer Previous Weapon to always grant you your Primary and Next Weapon to grant you your Secondary weapon.
Basically, pressing multiple times previous will stop at the first weapon. Weapon Mount Exit Delay: Sets the amount of milliseconds a directional input must be held before being registered to exit Weapon Mounting. This is particularly useful for players who like to quickly enter and exit Mounting. By default, you need to hold a directional input for a minimum delay before the mounted weapon is detached. Other than a few more Keybinds, this submenu deals with what type of command is needed to show the Scoreboard and Objectives a Toggle or Hold , and the System Key Behavior.
These are the first set of settings that will let you balance visuals with framerate. Changing these settings will have a different impact on different GPUs. Modern Warfare will automatically adjust these to their ideal settings based on your GPU the first time you start the game, but you can always adjust them later to fit your preference.
Warning: Some of these options use a significant amount of video memory when enabled and will have a substantial performance impact on certain GPUs. Modern Warfare will automatically adjust these to their ideal settings based on your GPU the first time you start the game, but you can always adjust them later to fir your preference.
This is where you can adjust Anti-aliasing, Filmic Strength, or the amount of temporal blurring vs. Field of view is one of the most requested graphical options. With Modern Warfare , the team wants to make sure the game looks great on the widest variety of hardware, from the smallest monitor to a huge ultra-ultra-wide display.
Each weapon has its own zoom level. With the value set to relative, the weapon will scale the field of view based on your settings. As for horizontal and vertical HUD bounds, this is where you can adjust the horizontal and vertical margins of your heads-up display to better fit your screen.
Accessibility: Aside from subtitles and language selections, we have two separate adjustments for colorblind gamers: You can choose the colorblind type none, protanopia, deuteranopia, or tritanopia , which changes the color of various interface elements to match your type.
You can also apply a colorblind target filter over the entire game world, the HUD interface, or everything on the screen.
Below this, there is the ability to disable or enable world motion blur the simulated blurring of moving objects , and weapon motion blur the blur effect when the camera or objects are moving rapidly.
Content Filters: Here, you can enable or disable text chat, the profanity filter within text chat, and dismemberment and gore effects on character models.
The indicators for muted sounds and voice chat is a new feature this year: To avoid hitting these buttons by mistake, a telemetry widget has been added to the top of the screen to remind you, in case you disabled any of these options. The sound and voice chat telemetry widget allows you to remove these notifications to reduce visual noise. Still, it is possible to find an Epic weapon or two, within a Supply Boxes, and if that happens, you may want to think twice before passing it up.
Legendary items, the rarest items found within a match, are marked with an orange-gold afterglow on a weapon or four gold diamonds inside of a diamond. Legendary items consist of powerful Field Upgrades, such as Stopping Power Rounds, weapon blueprints with all five attachment slots filled, and other hard-to-find in-game items like Self-Revive Kits, Armor Satchels, and Gas Masks.
During a game of Warzone , you may only come across a handful of Legendary items in Supply Boxes, let alone on the ground. Alternatively, some of these items, such as the Self-Revive Kits, can be bought outright at a Buy Station. Only foolish Operators leave Legendary items lying around for others to capture without even considering it as part of a loadout. Ultra items also exist within Warzone , but these are usually reserved for incredibly special items that can be equipped to your loadout or profile.
For more information on Ultra-rarity items, specifically Mastercraft Weapon Blueprints, check out the Weapons section of the guide here. Ammo in Warzone is simplified into weapon categories compared with the full Modern Warfare game , with some ammo types able to be used for multiple weapon categories.
Ammo is segmented into:. There is a limit to how much ammo an Operator can carry, but in general, the more ammo you carry — no matter its type, the better.
In Warzone, you never know what weapon you will find to be most effective, so it is best to keep ammo counts as close to the max as possible and pick up these drops in the world. Armor is your main form of Operator damage mitigation, shielding your hit points from ballistic or explosive damage. Armor comes in Plates, rare drops that can be equipped, expended, and stockpiled up to five individual Plates per Operator normally.
Operators start in Warzone with health and two Armor Plates equipped out of three in total. Your current armor status is shown above the health bar in the bottom left corner of the screen. Taking damage will deplete this bar, which is segmented into thirds to represent each individual Armor Plate. In other words, if you get hit by a bullet and your armor bar goes down past the one-third mark halfway, equipping an Armor Plate will fill the bar back up to the one-third mark.
Otherwise, if you have the Armor to spare, it may not be worth worrying about topping off a bar rather than filling up an empty one. Equipping an Armor Plate takes a few seconds and renders your Operator unable to fire or use equipment. However, they can still move and even sprint while equipping armor pieces, making a stow and scurry maneuver an effective option for gaining ground and defense.
Along with picking up individual plates, you can replenish your armor reserves by using an Armor Box , a special Field Upgrade only available as an in-game item and not out of game, where it could be used alongside a Loadout in Plunder. After placing the Armor Box and interacting with it, your Operator will immediately fill their Armor reserves to full.
Other friendly squadmates can interact with it too to increase their Armor reserves to their maximum, making this item an extremely useful tool when plating is hard to come by. The final Armor-related item is the Legendary Armor Satchel , a vest that allows you to carry three additional Armor Plates. Only one Armor Satchel can be equipped per Operator, and once it is picked up, it cannot be dropped unless that Operator is eliminated.
However, someone with an Armor Satchel is free to drop all eight of their Plates for a squadmate to carry, allowing for some strategies around Plate management across all squadmates. Note: You can technically have up to 11 Armor Plates carried by your Operator; up to five in reserve, up to three worn and ready to absorb damage, and an additional three should you have an Armor Satchel. Cash is what Operators use to purchase items at Buy Stations.
This in-game currency can be earned either by completing Contracts, finding them in the wild, or collecting them from the remains of your enemies. Cash comes in all sizes; the larger the stack, the more plunder is in it. As for the Plunder game mode, Cash is your win condition. This means completing Contracts, one of the more lucrative and guaranteed ways to earn Cash, becomes even more important in these matches.
Full strategies for acquiring and utilizing Cash in Plunder is detailed in the chapter section related to this specific game mode. Note: Cash is only useful during the specific Warzone match that you find it in.
As we mentioned in our Circle Collapse section , the collapse is a deadly gas that will down any Operator who spends too much time in it. The only way to avoid being damaged by it — outside of not stepping into it in the first place — is to equip a Gas Mask.
Gas Masks are single-use items that, when equipped inside of a collapse, allows your Operator to breathe freely for a little over 10 seconds. This item is considered Legendary, making it difficult to find within Verdansk outside of a Buy Station.
However, if it is found, how to use it, and when to use it, is extremely simple. You may want to save a Gas Mask for later stages of a Battle Royale Warzone match, such as when the final circle collapse engulfs Verdansk completely, should you plan to survive that long.
Otherwise, use it whenever your Operator is at risk of taking an unfortunate death to the elements. Furthermore, when your Operator automatically equips or takes off a Gas Mask due to the Circle Collapse, your Operator will do the following:.
During this time, your Operator will not be able to fire weapons as efficiently, and while a Gas Mask is equipped, your visibility will be reduced slightly. Keep both of these factors in mind while fighting another Operator, as one errant donning or doffing of a Gas Mask could sway the tide of battle. In addition to a regular Gas Mask is a Durable Gas Mask, an even rarer item that cannot be purchased at a Buy Station, and is normally not found in a typical match.
The Durable Gas Mask offers roughly three-times the amount of fresh air than a traditional Gas Mask, allowing you to stay within the Circle Collapse longer. Simply put, if you find one of these Durable Gas Masks, equip it immediately before someone else does… Even if it is a fellow squadmate. Note: The Gas Mask does not reduce the disorienting effects of a Gas Grenade, as that grenade is able to penetrate even the toughest of Gas Masks and is only countered by the Battle-Hardened Perk.
A Field Upgrade is an additional equipment piece or ability that requires manual activation in order to give a specific advantage in or outside of combat.
In certain game modes, such as Plunder, you can select one out of most Field Upgrades to bring with you into the game just like your custom Loadout.
Munitions Box — Upon activation, your Operator will deploy a box of ammo, refillable equipment such as grenades , and weapons for you and your squad-mates. Be careful: if it is critically damaged it will explode.
